Women Premier league (WPL) 2024 auction
After the 2024 Women's Premier League (WPL) auction in Mumbai came to a close, the teams are officially set. The teams battled it out on the court to get their top choices and will now try to use the new players to their advantage, incorporate them into the current roster, and establish a solid foundation for the next season.A bidding frenzy erupted for the young Australian wonder Phoebe Litchfield as the WPL auction got underway.The Gujarat Giants (GG) paid ₹1 crore to obtain the services of the 20-year-old. After Sophie Dunkley announced her intention to not participate in the 2024 season, leading to her release, Gujarat were in need of an opening batter.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) outbid the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a bidding war for the services of Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, ultimately winning the deal for ₹2 crore. At the end of the auction, Delhi secured two local players without caps and took home ₹5 lakh.
However, the 20-year-old Kashvee Gautam becomes the protagonist of the WPL auction when the Gujarat Giants, a club, make a winning bid of ₹2 crore and secure his services. One player to keep an eye on next season is the fast bowler, who made headlines a few years ago after taking all ten wickets in a U-19 tournament.No WPL club received an offer for any of the big names, including Chamari Athapaththu, Deandra Dottin, Kim Garth, and others. In the shortened auction phase, teams assembled their separate rosters.
